Shipwreck Shadows on Sequalitchew Shore

How do you like the alliteration in the title?  lol  Here are some shadows at the old shipwrecked cement boat on Sequalitchew Beach at Nisqually Reach.  My 12-year-old son took these pictures.  I read that this is an old cement and iron boat from WW2.  I'll post pictures of the outside of it tomorrow.  :-)

The boat is cracked in two, so that there is a crack on either side
up to which you can climb and squeeze through to get inside.
This is looking through the crack that is on the south side of the ship.

My older daughter climbing down from above.

Here's a pic I took of the photographer! :-)
This is a view looking through the crack on
the north side of the ship.

  2. Wow ! I have never seen anything like that Jay Leigh .. is it dangerous to be so close to it? I would be thinking something is either going to fall on me or I will fall ? haha
    Great pictures !

  4. Joy ~ I know what you mean! It does look a little scary, doesn't it?? I admit I was nervous! Care definitely needs to be taken when going inside. Only my older two climbed up on top of the ship. It seems sturdy and solid, though. Apparently the ship has been there a really long time, and people climb it a lot.

    Everyone, thanks for your comments!

  6. I love to play with alliteration, but I'm afraid I stumbled over "Sequalitchew"!

    SHADOWY DINNER

A shadow, a shadow, a shadow you say?
A shadow is coming to dinner today?

Oh, what shall we feed it, and what will it eat?
Just toss down a few rays of light at its feet,

And watch its dark mouth gobble up every ray,
    But be sure, my friend, you don’t get in its way;

Keep out of the light so it won’t gobble you.
(If I were the hostess, that’s just what I’d do.)

A shadow is easy to feed, so they say,
So welcome your shadow to dinner today.

  7. Thank you both!

MMT ~ my daughter pointed out to me that "Sequalitchew" starts out with an "s" sound and the other words start out with an "sh" sound... I guess I wrote it too fast, but at least there are three words in the title with the "sh" sound. lol Actually, I can't find anywhere how to pronounce "Sequalitchew," and I hope I'm doing it right. :D Your poem is lovely!
